Defining Prayer

Quite simply, prayer is talking to God.

The concept of prayer is one of the most basic fundamentals of Christianity.

But at the same time, it is also one of the greatest long-standing mysteries of our faith.

In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve roamed freely with God, living in shameless relationship with Him talking and walking freely before Him. When sin entered the picture, Adam and Eve hid from God and that innocence was lost. However, God made a way through His son Jesus to redeem and restore our freedom before Him.

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” –John 14:6

Because of Jesus, we can go before God our Father with any and all of our concerns and desires. He turns His ear to our voice and our hearts because we belong to Him through our faith made possible by the sacrifice of Jesus.

While sometimes it feels that our prayers hit the ceiling, we know the truth that the God who created everything in existence gives attention to even the smallest detail of our lives. We can carry our prayers with confidence knowing that it is the power of Jesus that gives us access to God, and that He will not only hear but answer us every time.

If you still aren’t sure, try it and watch how God will show up in mighty ways in your life.
