Trust in the the Lord with all your heart

As the season of New Year’s Resolutions begins, what are some goals you have in mind for the next 365 days? Some of us may attempt to join the crowds at the local gym to take advantage of the new member specials, others might try to pick up a new hobby. While these things are good, what if we focused on something even better? Something eternal

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.” Proverb 3:5-6

Though we might be familiar with this Proverb, it can still be a challenge to follow the instruction it gives. Often times it can be easy to forget how much we need God. Until tragedy strikes, we can become trapped in prideful self-sufficiency and deprive ourselves of living life to the fullest!

God gave us beautifully complex minds that think critically and are constantly at work formulating equations to make sense of life and this world. But what if instead, we shifted our focus to God? We could use our minds to explore His Word and ponder the treasures of His character in our hearts, holding them dear to us and trusting in Him through every season.

This year, may we create a lifestyle that gives up exhausting self-sufficiency and looks to the Lord in every hour of every day to watch Him work in and through our lives. Oh, what a wonderful year of faith enjoying life to the fullest that could be!
